Romeo Lopez of Decatur High School Wrestling is our WSJM Sports Van Buren/Cass Student Athlete of the Week for the week of February 10, 2019.
At the Division 4 Individual Regionals, Romeo finished as runner-up at 125 lbs., falling in the championship match by a narrow 4-3 decision. He made it to the title match by scoring a 14-5 major decision in his opener and a 3-1 decision in the semi-finals.
Romeo is also a member of the Decatur Football team. In the classroom, he carries a 3.24 grade point average.
Romeo is the son of Manuel and Jessica Lopez of Decatur.
