MLB – Cubs reliever Ryan Tepera gets suspension reduced to 2 games
Chicago Cubs reliever Ryan Tepera has had his three-game suspension for throwing at Milwaukee’s Brandon Woodruff reduced to two games. His suspension starts with today’s series finale against the Brewers. Tepera threw a pitch behind Woodruff in the fifth inning of Chicago’s 3-2 victory at Milwaukee on April 13. Cubs catcher Willson Contreras had been plunked earlier in the game, and Tepera said he wanted to send a message because he felt his team had been hit too often in the past couple of years. Tepera also was fined.

NASCAR – Keselowski claims 6th win at Talladega with overtime pass
Brad Keselowski did it exactly right this time and finally got that last-lap victory, winning in overtime Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway. Keselowski is the ninth driver to win through 10 NASCAR Cup races this season and avenged the embarrassing Team Penske gaffe in the season-opening Daytona 500 when he and teammate Joey Logano triggered a last-lap crash as Keselowski tried to pass Logano for the victory.  Keselowski led just one lap, the last one.

NASCAR – Phelps: NASCAR not considering requiring COVID vaccinations
NASCAR isn’t considering mandating its competitors be vaccinated against COVID-19 and President Steve Phelps says making it a requirement is a “slippery slope.” Phelps said before Sunday’s race at Talladega Superspeedway that he does feel it is important for people to get vaccinated. Bubba Wallace recently partnered with Novant Health to address the hesitancy some have about getting vaccinated. He and Denny Hamlin are among the very few NASCAR drivers who have publicized receiving their shots.

Her teams reached the Elite Eight six times and the Sweet 16 on five other occasions.

Horse Racing – Louisville looks to rebound with Kentucky Derby back in May
The Kentucky Derby is back on the first Saturday in May, slowly bringing with it the sights, sounds and rituals familiar to Louisville. And local officials and business owners are hopeful that translates into better cash flow after the coronavirus pandemic upended the Derby’s schedule last year. Some Derby activities have returned, and attendance capacity at Churchill Downs could approach 60% in certain areas. This year’s economic impact on the region is estimated at $34.6 million, less than a tenth of the normal revenue that the event generates. But the Derby buzz is once again humming around Louisville.
