“When we started these camps two years ago, I wanted to make sure that we were taking the opportunity to teach kids lessons that would help them grow as individuals and community members, not just as basketball players,” Cleaves said. “With the support of Meijer, and our partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs, we hope to again offer a safe haven and a great experience to kids.”
In addition to building on their basketball game through highly targeted, hands-on instruction from Cleaves and others, camp-goers will benefit from valuable personal growth lessons to broaden their horizons and plant seeds for a healthy and productive life. Daily lessons will range from environmental awareness, financial literacy, health and nutrition to character building and goal setting.
The 1 Goal, 1 Passion Summer Basketball Camp will feature two sessions per day, targeting 8 to 12-year-olds from 9 a.m. to noon; and teens, ages 13 to 17, from 1-4 p.m. Again, online registration can be done at www.1goal1passion.com and close on July 14.
