Matt Cammire of Lawrence High School is our Van Buren/Cass Male Co-Student Athlete of the Year winner.
Matt earned All-State honors in football where he had 59 receptions for 1,295 yards and 26 touchdowns. On defense, he recorded 35 tackles and collected six interceptions.
He earned All-Conference and Special Mention All-State honors in basketball. He averaged 21 points, five rebounds, two and a half assists, and two steals per game.
He went on to earn All-Conference, All-District, and All-State honors in baseball. He finished with a .513 batting average with 39 hits, eight doubles, 29 RBIs, and 17 stolen bases. On the mound, he had a 6-4 record with a 1.19 ERA and 40 strikeouts.
He also was a member of the Lawrence Track team and National Honor Society. He graduated with a 3.92 grade point average.
