Lake Michigan Catholic High School has tabbed Toby Riley as its next varsity football head coach. He replaces Steve Graziano who stepped down last month.

This will be Riley’s 17th year in coaching. He served as Catholic’s assistant coach from 2010-2012 under head coach Jerome Learman. Before that, he served as junior high head coach and varsity assistant coach and scout at Manchester high school near Ann Arbor. “Just about anything you can do on a coaching staff, I’ve done”, Riley said.

When Riley made the move from Manchester to Lake Michigan Catholic, he instantly knew this was a program he wanted to be a part of. “When I got here in 2010, it took me about four minutes to fall in love with LMC Football”, he said. He added that he likes the setting of small high school football.

Riley has been out of coaching the last two years after serving as a Laker assistant and is anxious to put his stamp on the program as the head man, saying “I’m excited, it’s a great opportunity.”

Riley will be a guest on “The Coaches” Saturday morning at 9:30 on Sports Radio 1400 WSJM.
