A strong defensive effort led St. Joe to a 43-29 Class A District opening win over Portage Northern. The Bears limited the Huskies to just ten points through three quarters. Offensively, Anna Fischer scored a game high 20 points for St. Joe, Katie Algyre added 10. Lexie Coon and Mikayla Graham each turned in nine points for Northern. With the win, St. Joe improves to 18-2 on the season as they advance to face Lakeshore Wednesday night at 5:30 in Mattawan in the District Semi-Finals.
