Former St. Joe Great Returns To Coach The Lady Bears

St. Joseph High School has found their new girls basketball coach in the form of a former player in the program, a former Division 1 player and Division 1 and Division 2 college coach.
Tracey Bloodworth is returning home to be the head coach at her high school alma mater, taking over the program her father coached for 31 years.

Bloodworth is a former player at St. Joe under her father Rick Bloodworth from 1986 to 1989 helping the Lady Bears reach the 1989 Class B State Finals. Bloodworth is the 2nd all-time leading scorer in St. Joe history, and has holds the top two single season records for three pointers in a season.

After high school Bloodworth attended Illinois State University for three years before transferring to Northern Michigan.
Bloodworth’s coaching career began under her father at Lake Michigan College, she also has had coaching stops at the University of Indianapolis before being hired as the Head Coach at Ferris State University.

While at Ferris, she compiled a 232-163 (.587) record. Leading the Bulldogs to four NCAA tournament appearances, to GLIAC conference championships, and was named GLIAC coach of the year in 2004.

Bloodworth left Ferris in 2012 to become the Head Coach at Division 1 Valparaiso. The Crusaders won at least on Horizon League Tournament game in four of her first 5 years before the school left the Horizon League and joined the Missouri Valley Conference in 2017.
