This week’s Mid-West Family Player of the Week is Damarion Travis, a Junior from Eau Claire High School. Damarion is a star basketball, football, and track athlete at Eau Claire, but he’s off to an exceptional start to this basketball season.
In the season opener against Lake Michigan Catholic, Damarion recorded a triple-double, totaling 29 points, 10 assists, 11 steals, and 5 rebounds in their 77-47 win.
And then against Bridgman, Damarion had 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists, and shot the game winning free-throws with 7 seconds left to lead Eau Claire to a 45-44 win. This was the first time that Eau Claire had won on the road at Bridgman since 2003.
While Damarion has a very well-rounded basketball game, he takes pride one thing more than any other: Assists. Though he has the talent to score almost at-will, he not only wants to get his teammates the ball, but undoubtedly trusts their abilities as well.
Damarion not only excels on the court, but in the classroom as well where he has a 3.3 GPA.
