Mixed martial arts fighter Ben Askren, who is currently signed with UFC, announced his retirement from fighting on Monday. The reason for Askren’s retirement is his health, as his hip has been bothering him for years, and he needs to have it replaced.
Askren, 35, has been fighting for over a decade. He began wrestling in high school and continued in college, which led him to qualify for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Askren was the welterweight champion with both Bellator and ONE Championship, and fought his way to an incredible 19-0 record before he took his first loss against Jorge Masvidal at UFC 239 in June 2019.
