I did what???
Recently Jackson high school dedicated their new artificial turf field at Withington Stadium to the Dungy Family. The Jackson newspaper made a list of key games in the history of Withington Stadium. I ran across this blurb about one of those memorable games in Jackson.
"Jackson 21, Lumen Christi 20 (3 OT)
Oct. 1, 1983
Perhaps the most dramatic game in the city rivalry ended when Jackson's Dave Wolf blocked an extra-point attempt in the third overtime. After Lumen Christi scored first in the second overtime, Jackson's Scott Petersen completed a touchdown pass to Ron Eubanks on fourth-and-14 to keep the Vikings alive.
In the third overtime, Jackson scored first to lead 21-14. This time, Lumen Christi completed a fourth-and-10 pass for a touchdown, but officials ruled quarterback Tom Sullivan was past the line of scrimmage when he threw the ball.
The Titans were penalized and given another play, and Sullivan completed another touchdown pass to Jerry Smith before Wolf blocked the PAT. The officials later acknowledged that they erred in allowing the extra play and that the game should have ended 21-14."
Wow, am I good...
